PRESIDENT UHURU KENYATTA'S TOUR OF KENYA

By Alton Acholla
This week Kenyans on social media have ridiculed the president on the numerous number of trips he is making to other foreign countries #UhuruWorldTour. Many observed that the president was spending more time outside than in his own country.Reports showed that the current president had gone to 43 trips ten more than Mwai Kibaki in his ten years as president. The pres8idenbt added to his already impressive tally when he travelled to Rwanda yesterday.

What was of concern was the many delegation that always accompany the Head of State. Many argued that while the trips may be of economic and diplomatic importance, the large number of delegation was causing taxpayers billions.

The President however, through his spokesperson Manoah Esipisu defended his great air millage when he listed the various deals that have been accrued from such trips while also terming the large delegation as unavoidable
.
President Kenyatta,  Deputy President William Ruto and their delegations spent Sh2.1 billion on travel and hospitality in the financial year ending in June, which is 75 per cent higher than the figures for a similar period last year. Such resources ,according to many, could have been directed elsewhere.Other citizens simply stated that they miss their President's presence in the country.
